I’ve been with my boyfriend for almost 2 years, we’ve lived together the whole time. And we had a baby 6 months ago. He’s been telling me the whole time we’ve been together that it’ll happen “soon” and I don’t know if I believe it. But he tries everything to tell me it’s going to happen. And we’re going on a camping trip for our 2 year anniversary soon, and I feel like he might finally propose. I know I’m going to be completely heartbroken if he doesn’t. Should I be expecting it?

Expect nothing. If you are concerned, sit him down and have a serious talk about plans, goals, and expectations. 2 years really isn't an unreasonable amount of time to be together before getting engaged and married. But at the end of the day, you have to determine if this relationship has an expiration date if he won't agree to a time frame.

He probably doesn’t feel rushed because you’re living together and have a baby. I wouldn’t count on him proposing that way if he does you’ll be surprised. It sucks to be let down like that and then you really can’t say why you’re upset because you look bitchy- I’ve been there! Except we didn’t have a child and we didn’t live together. I would try to get that thought out of your head. He knows you want to get engaged so it’s all in his timing unfortunately. He could be saving, not in a rush, planning it now. You never know. If a guy wants to marry you he’ll find a way and ask. My husband picked a smaller diamond because he couldn’t wait. Then we upgraded it a year later. Just be patient. I know how difficult that can be!! He knows you just have to wait now

Have you two actually talked about getting engaged, did he indicate that it would happen in x amount of time. Sounds like this relationship escalated quickly, like pregnant within 5 months of dating. I’d tell him your expectations so you don’t get disappointed if it doesn’t happen on this camping trip.
