Is there anything we can do about this?

We bought a house and the seller agreed to have it cleaned before we closed and moved in. Well we closed today and the house is a filthy mess. I’m not able to clean because I have a really bad back and it’s really upsetting that he lied. If these is can you comment what & can do about it? Can we hire a cleaning company and then bill him for it?

That’s why you’re supposed to do a walk through before you close. You could have done something about it before signing. Unless it’s in writing somewhere, I don’t think there’s anything you can do about it now.  Sorry!

Do you have it in any form of legal document? If he simply said oh yeah we’ll have it cleaned then no I don’t think there’s anything you can do. Maybe talk to your real estate agent.

No this happened with my dad just a couple months ago when he bought his home. The lady agreed to fix a bunch of stuff and didnt, unfortunately he never did a walk through and already closed on it. Once you do there's nothing you can really do about it. In other words, people really suck sometimes

Most contracts states the home needs to be left in broom clean conditions.

All the terms should be in your contract your realtors prepared that they should have had both of you sign. Check your contract and contact your realtor about it. If its in there they have to do it, if its not then you're out of luck.

Unless it’s in writing then he technically isn’t responsible for it. Usually at signing they have you sign that you take the house the way it is. We had a company inspect beforehand and while it wasn’t the cleanest everything worked and it was mostly dust since they hadn’t been living there for months so we were ok with that. You’ll most likely just have to hire someone and take the loss, I’m sorry.
