Would medication help?

My entire life I’ve struggled with anxiety, obsession, and stress. I can’t relax my mind. I’ll stress over things to the point where it affects me physically. I get short tempered with everyone around me. I definitely have times where it’s better. Comes and goes in waves.

I feel like since becoming a mother it’s constant. I wouldn’t describe it as PPD because it has nothing to do with my LO... its more like the lack of sleep and lack of help since my husband works all the time increases my already existing anxiety. When one small negative thing happens I spiral into a negative obsession with everything possibly wrong with my life.

I can’t take it anymore. I’ve considered talking to a doctor about starting anxiety medication but my husband and mother discourage this. They believe that I can find a way to handle it on my own or see a therapist (which I’ve done before but I swear it just makes my mind run more and more after I leave).

My concerns about anxiety medication is a side effect of weight gain. I gain weight easily and do not want to do so again! When I was on birth control I gained 50 lbs and couldn’t lose it until I went off of it.

If you have experience or struggle with any of these feelings... did medication help you? What is your experience with the medication and could you please tell me what you take?
