Would you give someone your number if you’re not going to talk to them

So I asked my boyfriend why did he give his male coworker his number if he knew he wasn’t going to talk to this coworker. The coworker got mad cause my boyfriend told him no more rides. He said if his friend says anything to me then he’d be pissed. Well one if his friend came at me side ways for no reason I’ll just tell him back off before I hurt his feelings.

His friend doesn’t like me for who knows why. I was nice when I met him so not understanding the hostility.

Another question should my boyfriend have been charging him gas money. I’ll admit I got pissed off cause he’s letting this dude ride for free. So I went off saying well if you’re giving him rides he needs to pay gas money. It’s not fair he’s has a free way home and I’m using most of my money to cover my part and his friend’s part of the gas. Gas isn’t cheap so I was a bit heated since the car my boyfriend drives right now only takes premium. I was emotional and said his friend needs to take driving lessons and get a license to drive since he’s twenty. He makes the same amount as my boyfriend so not understanding why he can’t spare gas money. If I was using my car I’d tell my friends the same thing one free ride but if you want me to drive you places then you need to pay for gas. My friend wanted me to take her to this city that was four hours away so I told her she has to pay me gas money for the trip there and back(This is when I had a car). Her parents took her instead.
