When would you expect a ring?

Been together since grade 8, now are 20, and 21 been together for going on 7 years, he’s almost done his last year of schooling for engineering and has secured a good job, we have a almost 5 year old and a baby on the way, we have always just been two peas in a pod, we are such similar people it just works so perfectly. We’ve been out of highschool for 4 years and a lot of our friends are engaged. I never really thought much of it but we are going on 7 years and I just don’t know when I should bring it up being like .. are we getting engaged or

If you have two children together I’d just straight up ask. He may not have even thought about it. You’re already probably doing the typical ‘wife things’. Babies, live together, cook dinner etc. so he may not even think it’s something he needs to do.

Talk to him. I'm 21, been with my boyfriend 3 years and we literally talk about our future goals all the time. If you've been with someone so long you should have done this by now. We're going to be getting engaged after o graduate in May. We agreed that would be a good time to do it

Talk to him. Some people don't want to be married. Some men get overwhelmed thinking about a huge wedding and they drag their feet from the dread of all the money, time, and emotional upheaval weddings involve. That's fine as long as all your health directives, life insurance, wills, etc. are in place. If they aren't, a jaunt to the courthouse could allieviate some of those issues. 
Just make sure you are covering all the bases since there are kids involved. If you've done that, great! Too many people don't. 
But mainly you need to communicate if marriage is an expectation of yours.

I wouldn't EXPECT a ring. My partner and I communicated, made sure we were on the same page, talked about a time frame, and went from there.
I mean, that's how a marriage works right, by communicating, not just expecting them to read your mind.... 🤷🏽‍♀️

Honestly weddings are expensive so I can see him waiting to propose to you or even buy a ring until he has completely graduated and feels stable at his job. I would ask if he does see that in your future together just to make sure that you both are on the same page. But being the fact that he is in school, I would think that it’s OK to wait a little longer as long as you both are in agreement on where are you see your future together.￼￼

Just talk to him. Some people are fine with not being married if they’re in a Good place. My best friend and her boyfriend have been together 13 years and have 2 kids and they have no plan to get married because they like how things are. My fiancé proposed on our 8 year anniversary and we’re getting married on our 9 year anniversary.

It took my Husband 8 years to propose to me. We had been together since we were both 19. I got engaged on July 4, 2018 and we eloped on September 11, 2018. We are currently expecting our first child.

My husband asked after 5 years and mainly cause I keep bringing it up. I knew he wanted to and at first I freaked at the mention when he brought it up after 2 years of being together so it scared him from asking. Have you guys talked about your future? I'd just casually bring it up like ask about plans like buying a house etc.  tell him you'd like to get married but also be open to the idea that he may not want to. Good luck honey.
