I was only using coconut oil I just started using some detangler to help comb out these curls

I'm not African American...I'm Puerto Rican with 4c hair. My children are African American/ white and Puerto Rican. We are letting our sons hair grow out. We have been putting grease and oil since around 9 months when his hair started to get really curly. If it was really curly from the beginning I would have started at least with the oils first. We use Africa's best hair oil, blue magic, jojoba oil etc in my my hair and my son's. Hopes that helps.
