Christian to Catholic?

Question

@ my Catholic ladies, why are y’all catholic? (And I don’t mean that in a rude way I mean like what about the faith makes Catholicism stand out from the rest?) like for example, why do Catholics believe in the father, son and Holy Spirit? Why do Catholics pray to the Virgin Mary? If any of this is wrong, pls correct me. I’m so curious about Catholicism but I don’t really have anyone to ask, since my family isn’t religious, besides my mom, and tbh she was raised baptist. Pls be nice, I don’t want to offend anyone ! I’m Catholic and I see no one who’s Catholic has answered your questions yet. So to start, Catholics are Christians. Anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their savior and that He died on the cross for us, believing in the gospel and in the Holy Trinity is a Christian. Catholics are in fact the first Christians, as Jesus Himself established the Church. All other churches branched off from the Catholic Church. We believe in the Trinity because it’s revealed in scripture, or at least heavily implied there, and is the truth and teaching of the church. This is a basic truth of Christianity though, not just in Catholicism. The Eastern Orthodox and most Protestants believe in the Trinity too. Notable groups who don’t are Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses. As for Mary, we pray to her because we believe in her intercession. Not because we worship her or think she’s a god, but because we believe in the communion of saints, and that those in heaven can pray for us. Just like someone here on earth can pray for us, so can those in heaven. And Mary being the greatest of saints as Jesus’ mother, she would be the closest to Him. She intercedes for us to Him.

Catholicism believes in a lot of legalist things. Such as praying to Mary is absolutely wrong and there is no reason for that. You definitely don’t have to go to the priest to “beg for forgiveness” if you are saved, you’re always forgiven. All you have to do is pray to God. Nobody else and there’s nothing more than that. Make sure to study the Bible and understand that’s not what you have to do and they do it because that’s what their pope taught them a long time ago.  My sister in law was catholic and she became Christian realizing how different it is and how she was following these rules that aren’t needed to be followed!

All Christian's believe in the trinity not just Catholics. The trinity is present throughout the entire bible and all Christians should believe in God the father, son, and holy spirit. I'm Baptist, part of the southern Baptist church to be exact and I believe in the trinity

I’m a Protestant but ... Catholics are Christians. If you believe Jesus Christ forgave your sins and is welcome in your heart, you’re part of the family of believers! Denominations mostly come down to preference in my experience

Believing in the trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) is not just catholic, that is all Christianity. I’m not catholic, but my (limited) understanding of the saints and Mary are like this: Mary and the saints are like middle-men/women. You ask them to pray to God for you. Personally, I never really understood it, but I was not raised catholic, that is just the way someone explained it to me.

The only way a person can be holy is by Christ in them. We are all born sinners. Holy actually means separate. God is separate and there's none like Him!  We are saved by grace (means we don't deserve it) by faith (believing Jesus died for our sins and we can have eternal life by accepting Him as our Savior and allowing the Holy Spirit into us- it is only God in us (the Holy Spirit) that is the holy part of us).  Salvation is not earned by any thing other than the blood of Christ.  If we truly accepted Christ and recieved salvation,  our lives will bear fruit as a witness of this. But it is not fruit that saves a man,  it is the result of the man being saved.
