Clogged ear - help!

Nursing a minor cold this week - minor sniffles, no biggie until today!  Set off on our babymoon and on the flight's decent my ear hurt so bad I actually cried!  Now, many hours later, I still can't hear out of one ear.  I'm so uncomfortable.  I've yawned, swallowed, plugged my nose & blown, etc.  Is there something OTC I can take??  The local store here had Tylenol sinus congestion pain - is this safe??
