For moms who could breastfeed: With your first baby, how long did you feel nipple pain with breastfeeding (I have it for the first minute or so when baby latches)?

I can't remember exactly. But stick with it!! It really does get so much easier.

I never felt pain with breastfeeding, I was told that if you feel pain then something may be wrong with your latch.

I had nipple guards for a few weeks to get through the pain. They were lifesavers. We just stopped breastfeeding at 23 months. Stick with it in the beginning, it's worth it!

Currently 3 weeks pp, and the pain is toe-curling. Does it ever go away?!

Almost 4 weeks and I still have some pain. Nothing like the first week so it seems to be getting better.  Lots of nipple balm tho.

I accidentally hit 4 weeks and I meant to hit 5+ because it hurt until 6 weeks. During the first 6 weeks the medela nipple cream and gel packs were a life saver. Once we hit the 6 week mark things got so much better and I am so proud of myself for sticking to it. My nipples still get super tender for a day or two during my period, so I use nipple cream and it helps alot. Going on 5 months strong and I do not plan to quit anytime soon.
