Will one yelling incident mentally scar/harm my child?

My mom watches my 14 month old while I work and she just got pissed at me for something stupid so she started yelling/screaming at me while I was holding my daughter. My daughter looked concerned and frightened. I walked away and calmly said, "I don't appreciate you talking that way right now" and then I went in another room with my daughter.
Do you think this incident could have scarred or harmed her mentally? She's a very smart and perceptive little girl. 😢

Absolutely not. I got yelled at a lot as a child and I’m fine.

Kids are resilient . I agree with that. In this isolated case, I sure she’ll be fine but in the future try to watch that kind of behavior around her. (Not shaming or blaming.) A child’s development and behaviors can be effected negatively by these kinds of interactions.

At that age I SINCERELY doubt it. But I DO think the babies feel tension... if it keeps being present between you guys that might be a little more lasting

Also, are you sure you want your mom watching her if this is the way she speaks to you? I would be concerned that your mother doesn’t understand healthy ways to communicate or cope with her feelings. If she’s doing it with you, she may do it with your daughter as well. Just something to think about.￼￼￼
