For a newborn in regards to FAMILY, how recent does the Whooping Cough Vaccine need to be updated?

My Dr refuses to let my mom update her whooping cough vaccine she got in 2011. Apparently they are good for 10 years? Ive been told though that the effectiveness of this vaccine fades over the years.

Ten years.
Every pregnancy is recommended for mom, not for you, but so the baby gets protection in utero  (that's the theory anyway, not sure if it's been proven)
But yes adult boosters are every 10 years

The tetanus part needs administered every 10 years max. As far as the whooping cough part, you only need that once in a lifetime. This does not apply to expectation moms of course. After an adult gets a Tdap they are covered for the whooping cough and will only need to get a Td (Tetanus diphtheria) for then on. This is from the CDC website. I am a nurse who has had to administer tons of vaccines and the CDC is where you go to your vaccine information.

They can be administered at the hospital. I would see if she would be able to just spontaneously get it there. Also, I would get it every newborn just in case, my mom who is an RN (registered nurse) never told me not to get it again and I had my daughter in 2018 and I'm currently pregnant. 😊
