Sticky eye or conjunctivitis?

My two week old saw his pediatrician this morning and he said that my sons eye doesn’t look like an infection and it’s probably sticky eye, but tonight, the thick yellow discharge had increased and had glued his eye shut. It went across his entire eye. His eye lid is a little swollen too. His actual eye doesn’t look red or anything. Does this sound like sticky eye or conjunctivitis. I’m stressing out about it. This is what it looks like about 15 minutes after I wiped it. The hoop in the corner of his eye went all the way to the other corner.
