I need an answer

Zena

So I’m currently dating my boyfriend of two months now. He’s white and I black, so his family accepts me for who I am. I’m soon to meet his mother. But when I told my mother about him, she made the comments “ he better treat you right.” I was like okay “ he does treat me right.” So like a few weeks ago “ I was washing my hair and wearing my natural hair out. She tells me “ your hair looks nappy and why would you let him see you in your natural hair. He doesn’t know anything about natural black hair.” Okay, granted yes I don’t know a damn thing about my own hair as well. So I took my hair as a learning opportunity for myself and my boyfriend so we are both educated on the topic. Then the other day we were talking ( my mother and I) about a topic. She proceeded to respond “ You hang around those white people if you wanna and see they take my grandchild away from.” Side note: I’m not pregnant or anything of the sort. It’s just I’m trying understand why my mother responds the way she does about my boyfriend. He’s 27 and I’m 24.
