Giving on a credit card?

Question

Thoughts? My husband and I want to be able to be generous and put others and God before ourselves. It’s been very hard times for us financially while we are attempting to get our business going. We knew it would be hard, it will be some time before our investments come back to us but we believe it will be worth it. Now though with an unexpected (first)baby coming in the middle of all this, we are stuck in a bind. Regardless, we still we want to be able live biblically and give what we can when we see someone in need.
This month we have only six hundred dollars left of credit limit on our card to get us through till the start of December. Its going to be very tight. Somehow, things always add up just right at the end of the month, I do believe God is taking care of us as we depend on him through it.
Today at the grocery store, there was no divider thing, so my groceries got slightly mixed with the peoples behind me on the line. They were jokingly like, oops let me move this, unless you want to get ours too! They were totally kidding, but I really wanted to turn it on them and bless them by actually paying for theirs too. I could tell it might help them out. 
I chose not to though, just paid for my own and went on like normal. 
I know I had zero obligation to pay for them, but I wanted to. 
So the question up for debate is, is it biblical to give on a credit card? It’s not technically money you actually have. 
Also, if you are living in the negative on credit, do you still tithe?
Edit: We never planned on living off credit cards or going into dept. We would never have done so on purpose and never thought that would be us. It’s not from overspending, we have already reduced costs as much as we are able, sold and given up certain things. Our business taking much longer than expected to start making anything, plus surprise baby, is what pushed us over the edge. We have certain investments definitely coming back to us, but it could take several more months to come in. In the mean time, do we tithe on the little we make?

I don’t see debt being biblical so no you should not do monetary help if you yourself are in debt to a debtor. You need to get out of it and work towards living within the means the Lord has provided. There is many other ways you can help others with time and resources you do own.

I would not go into debt to give. I do believe you should tithe while getting out of debt, but you have to make a budget so you don't overspend any month.
We follow Dave Ramsey principles so are debt free except for the house and working on paying that off.

Its not biblical. You should look up The Dave Ramsey Show, Financial Peace University, and 9 baby steps. Hes a christian based financial guru that teaches biblical principals to couples and families. He basically covers giving and also working as a couple in the way God would want. He covers living below your means and gives biblical principles and perspective. My Dad did his course which is usually hosted by local churches and will be officially debt free in April. I did his course and just got married and it has and will change tge financial projectory of how i do finances with my husband and how i govern my family.

That doesn't seem wise. You can try to give in other ways if you can't give financially. Pray for people, kindness, words of encouragement and support. Send cards to people etc.

The Lord would rather you get out of debt than give. It is the worst thing possible that you could do to get yourself into more debt. I heard a podcast on this and they said that God wants us to do it out of the grace of our hearts. If we’re in debt or suffering, He wants us to fix that and focus on that first, before giving.

The bible asks us to give out of abundance, not out of our lack. So when your Bill's are paid, grocery bought and house necessities are stocked up; if you have some left then by all means help others. But, it makes no sense to give your all or last, then pray for God to help you come out of debt. He had already provided it. But yes it is fine to use a credit card to help others. Either way it goes you'll still end up paying for it. We have to be good stewards over the blessings God give us by buying what we need. That way there will be money left for us to be lenders/givers to other people.
