Am I wrong?

So my bf and I had planned to spend Christmas together and things were good then he tells me that he’s going out of town with his dad to see his grandpa. This really upset me as I had already bought the plane tickets to come down, a couple a presents, and since he didn’t speak to me before making that decision. We then planned for me to come down two days before New Years then last night he tells me that I need to cancel the flight because his dad wants to stay through New Years. I had already switched my plane ticket and had to pay almost $100 extra just to do that. He keeps saying there’s nothing he can do yet he’s in his 30s. I know family comes first but this was going to be the last time we could see each other until May due to my school schedule and the fact that we live 12 hours apart
