Is it even my period !?

My period this month was weird. It was brown discharge to blood then back to the brown discharge it was like that back and forth for 4 days. Needing only one pad a day. 5 counting the first day which was only light brown discharge and once that I wiped just tinted red. (Didn’t need a pad the first day) has this ever happened to anyone is it normal?. My past period I had brown discharge for 4 almost 5 days and then my period. Is all of this normal it has never happened to me.
