I have a job for now. I initially wanted to be an orthodontist. I graduated high school & didn’t attend school after. What are some good recommendations.??

A great way to get into that field would be becoming a Dental Assistant. I did this and in 4 months I was trained and certified! Some offices even pay for extra schooling once you work for them for a while so you can become a dental hygienist afterward and you can keep working your way up!

I’m it first year of residency to be an orthodontist. It’s a lot of schooling. 4 years for your bachelor’s degree, 4 years for your DDS/DMD (dental degree-general dentist), and another 2-3 years for a specialty certification in orthodontics. So 10-11 years of additional schooling and approx $300,000-$500,000 in debt depending on where you attend university. It’s doable. I’ve seen older women go back. Older messing starting the journey after time has passed since high school. Even 22 over 18 will make you more seasoned than most of your classmates. However, sometimes ppl with the more life experiences excel in post graduate education bc they know what it means to work everyday and how high the stakes are if you fail. Good luck!
