Checking cervix??

Question

So I will be 38 weeks exactly on Tuesday and this will be my first time having my cervix checked. My question is does it hurt? Can you go into labor from it? They use their fingers I'm guessing ? I'm gonna be a first time mom so if these questions sound stupid to you then I'm sorry.

It hurt a little, but it was just more uncomfortable then anything. I don't think it can put you into labor...unless they break your water my accident. My dr checked me carefully becuace at 38 weeks I was already 4 centimeters dialated and 80% effaced. My water sack was bolging too...and she commented that she DIDN'T want to freak my water.

The doc will insert 2 fingers in with one on top of the other (kind of like scissors) and open them while inside you, depending on how much he/she is able to open them is how dilated you are...
It didn't hurt,  but was uncomfortable with my boys... They're 6 and 2 now, so it's been a while... Good Luck!

It doesn't hurt, and it doesn't cause labor. But it is super uncomfortable

I found it to be extremely uncomfortable.....*almost* painful but not quite. The closer you are, the more uncomfortable it becomes. Everyone is different though. Your experience may not be the same
