My two year old has become extremely clingy 😩

Is this normal? He says "mommy,mommy,mommy" "I want mommy" literally all day. I was in the shower and he hurt himself a bit and wouldn't let his dad console him. I had to get out because he was screaming his head off. He will not play by himself as much anymore, hes always crying asking me to sit on the floor and play with him. And if he does sit by himself, he has to be sitting on me. I'm mostly a SAHM so I spend all day with him. Please tell me this is just a phase, lol. He turned two in july
