Is it insensitive??

Hey Ladies ... so I have a dilemma that me and my boo have been arguing about for the past day or so ...so his family recently got a black tea cup puppy and named him Nelson (no biggie right?) We'll he went on to explain that it was like Nelson Mandela because the dog is black ... mind you I told him it was insensitive to make that connection .. he says it's not and that he isn't racist 😑.. what do y'all think ?
