Stupid question 🙈

I have had this dryer for 3 years and have always used the timed dry. I have used the timed dry my whole life. I JUST now looked over to the other side and noticed the automatic dry is labeled energy preferred. So what does automatic dry mean? How does it differ from the timed dry? I have a couple throw pillows and a blanket in the dryer now and I'm trying out the automatic dry.

Help? 🙈 gosh, I feel stupid right now
