If you and your spouses families both have Xmas on the same day every year what do you do?

Asking because mine and my spouses families always have their christmas gathering on the same day (Christmas Day) every year. Before having kids I assumed we’d switch back and forth every year and take turns but now we always favour his side because we just enjoy going there more and then we usually make plans with a couple close family members on my side another day soon after.

We do Christmas Day with my side as he has to work at somepoint during the day so we do presents have Christmas dinner and then while he works I spend time with my family, and then onBoxing Day we go to his family as that’s when he gets his daughter and has the day off to spend the whole day doing a kind of second Christmas, it helps that we all literally live 5 minutes a way from each other (walking distance) so most time’s we go between both on both days

We favor my side.. mostly because his family is spread abroad overseas.. and we live in the same city as my family.

Normally we communicate times awhile beforehand so the first one to communicate a set time gets priority and the other just has to work with it

i usually go with my bf's family but only bc my family is usually on a business trip during that time, and most of my family is in hk. this year i have a dr's appointment in hk so i'll be spending it with them, and just organising a late christmas ski trip with my bf's family
