What age should you stop watching scary films in front of a child?

Me and dp sometimes watch a dvd in the day which is scary or 18 rated. ds is only 7 months so it wont affect him yet but what age should you stop them seeing scary things?

I wouldn't even let him see it at 7 months, but totally just me and I wouldn't judge someone by any means.  But they absorb a lot in my opinion!

I try my best not to have any screens on when my LO is awake. Granted I’m not perfect. She sees me check my phone and I use it to take pics of us. My husband likes watching sports so she’s been seeing a lot of football lately.  The other day he stuck a Disney movie on to give her something to listen to (watch? Sorta) while he made her some lunch and the only adult home. 
However, even at 8 months she’s taking it all in so personally, nothing inappropriate is watched in front of her. Ever.  We’re firm about that.

I wouldn't my daughter 13 months at the time got upset and scared of TV after her grandmother had her watch a diseny cartoon with her! She would not go near a TV until she was almost four! Now at 14 she thinks TV is a waste of time But then we don't have a tv at home, athough we occasionally use dvds on the computer.
