All natural home birth, first time mom! ♥️🥰

So I will try to give as much detail as possible without going into unnecessary parts but if any of you have any questions the story doesn’t cover feel free to comment! My due date was 11/18 but I didn’t go into labor until yesterday (11/22) and he didn’t arrive until this morn (11/23) at 6am. My water broke exactly at 1am, I was lying in bed and felt a little pop and then it started coming so I dashed to the bathroom. We’d been planning a home birth from the very beginning so I called my midwife to let her know labor had started. She advised me to go back to bed and try to relax and get some sleep but I had too much adrenaline and the contractions started coming right away. So my husband started timing them and they actually were pretty close together already (about 45 seconds long and 3-5 minutes apart). Because of this I thought I’d have a fast labor. (HA... these were the closest my contractions got during the whole labor. Even during transition later on and the most painful parts my contractions never got closer than every 5 minutes.) Around 3/4am I took a warm bath cause my body started shaking due to adrenaline. Contractions kept coming till about 7/8am when they slowed down A LOT. My midwife showed up at 1pm to do a checkup, and things were going slowly (I was still in early labor) so she left again and didn’t come back till about 6pm. I started active labor around 7/8pm. I labored on the ball and also standing up and walking around through contractions. By 11pm I was in a lot of pain from the contractions and very weak and tired. I threw up every food and drink except water. My midwife checked me at 11:30pm and I was between 7 and 8 centimeters... this was sooo encouraging to me! Down we went to the birthing pool where I’d planned to give birth. I was in there for 3+ hours and pushing wasn’t doing anything... my pulse went way up finally so they decided we should go back upstairs. I was so weak and tired at this point my contractions backed way off which was a blessing in disguise cause I needed the rest. She checked me again around 3am to find my cervix had a lip on it so she massaged that away. I pushed on my back on the bed for awhile but that was too painful so I switched to hands and knees. I couldn’t get strong enough contractions to help push the baby and I was so exhausted and discouraged at this point. Finally my midwife had me lay on my side (the one position I never imagined would be good to push in) and I guess that was the perfect position for the baby to get his head down, I pushed long and hard for a long time (6 hours pushing in total... phew) before he came out. My midwife had me stop pushing right when his head and face crowned so my vagina could stretch naturally while she rubbed oil on my perineum. Let me tell you that was a long painful wait till the next contraction!!! I was in agony. Finally I got his head out and in the next contraction I got the rest of his body out. He was a giant... 9lb. 5oz. and 22.5 inches long. I did have a tiny tear, but my midwife said it should heal on its own in a week. I was in labor for 29 hours total and pushed for 6. Yes, it was long and hard and so very painful and miserable at times but I was sooo happy to be able to labor in the comfort of my own home and be able to rest and relax with my husband and parents right after the birth and not worry about leaving the hospital. I only plan on doing home births from now on! My birth didn’t go entirely as planned, since I’d wanted a water birth, but it was nice to be flexible and pushing on my side was way more effective for me than pushing in the water, even though the water was sooo relaxing. I’ll include some pictures. I’m so thankful! We named our son Wade Chapman and he’s a cuddler and a total champ at nursing. 🥰
