My birth story at 36+3 🦋
Went to hospital on the 24th October to see my diabetic nurse about my diabetes, at this point I was 35+6 I believe,
They decided to induce me that Sunday coming up as she was apparently a big baby and it was dangerous for me and her if I carried on with her as she was!
Went in Sunday morning(26th), after waiting 4 hours for them to put in my pessary to start it off( I get it, they’re busy)
Had it in for 7 hours instead of 24 as I was already 3 cm so they took it out.. little did I know I would have to wait till Monday night/ Tuesday morning to go to delivery suite to have my waters broken!
Got taken down Monday night/ early hours of Tuesday morning, get everything situated ready to go and then they couldn’t get 2 cannulas in to start the drip..
13 tries later and they managed it, after blowing 5 veins..
The student midwife then broke my waters and within 20 minutes of the drip,..contractions started and they were INTENSE.
So I’m there sucking on the gas and air, practically off my head and I need to push, I just knew I needed to push! the midwives didn’t believe me that I was ready to push,
They checked and I was at 10cm about 15 minutes later,
So I push, I push to the point where I don’t know where I am, the point where I’m sweating everywhere, even to the point where my partner thought I was going to break his hand!
It felt like a life time, I thought I was lead there for hours..
Honestly near the end , I can’t remember it, I generally believe I BLACKED OUT!!!! but labour ended up being 1 hour 13 minutes and she was born at 8.43am ,weighing 6lbs 7oz, a very tiny baby, compared to the 9lb baby she was apparently weighing in at on the last growth scan,
Anyway, she was healthy and happy, I on the other hand , stayed there for an extra hour being stitched, feeling every stitch go in and back out because the numbing injection didn’t completely numb me
But she was here and born on the 29/10/2019 at 36+3
Was due 23/11/2019
