Do or Don’t? Opinion please!

Question

I’m really unsure if I want to get my little girls ears pierced after she’s born. The hospital that I’ll be delivering at said they can do it there. (if that’s what I want).  From anyone else’s experience would this be something you’d do or just wait on it?

Its up to you. My mom had it done when I was born and I wish she didn’t. I’ll wait until my daughter can consent to it.

Personally I’m glad my mom got mine done at 8 weeks old. I plan on getting my daughters done at a young age as well

I’m waiting until my daughter wants them and is old enough to be responsible about it. I don’t think it’s bad to get them done but we just decided to let her decide and sort of earn it with maturity and responsibility.

I wish I hadn’t had mine done when I was younger. I developed an intense metal allergy and they had to be taken out. They healed wrong and migrated and I ended up having to get them redone when I was a teenager. I have 2 exit holes in one ear because of the migration. 
Serious question: What’s the point of getting them done when she is younger, other than for your own satisfaction? The pain is minimal, and it’s far easier to take care of them when she is conscious of them and doesn’t mess/play with them.

I’m not against it but I am personally not going to until she wants hers done. It was a special experience between my mom and me when I was 8, so I want that with my daughter. I will say that wherever you go, make sure it is a clean environment and they know what they’re doing. You’re much better off going to a professional and reputable tattoo shop to have it done rather than a mall booth or Claire’s.

With our first daughter we just never got around to doing it. She’s now 14 months and there’s no way we’re risking it. She pulls at everything (bows, headbands, bracelets, etc). I’m pregnant again with daughter #2, so we decided we’ll take them both together when they’re big girls if they want it done.

We didn’t with our first girl and won’t with this one. We’re waiting until she asks and wants them pierced. My daughter is 3 1/2 and just recently started asking about it. We let her watch a little girl get them done when we were at the mall one day so she understood the process (my daughter does best when she knows exactly what to expect for everything) and then we asked her if she wanted them done and she said yes but not today. So we said ok let us know when you’re ready.
