Terrible mom?

I feel like a terrible mom because I don’t know what’s wrong with my 1 year old son. He’s been clinging on to me, wanting me to hold him all day, and crying and I just can’t hold him all day because I have things to do to ensure that he’s well taken care of. Recently we’ve been spending a lot of time with his father but he hasn’t been around the past two days. One reason is because he got arrested. I don’t know if his father all of a sudden not being around is affecting my son or not. I’m just lost.

You’re concerned for your child, that makes you a good mom! 
It very well could be that he’s not understanding why his dad’s not around. I’d make sure it’s not some kind of sickness (stomach ache.... ear infection) that you can’t see physical signs of. I don’t have kids yet but have worked in multiple daycares and a school. If a kid isn’t acting normal we would always suggest getting them checked out by a dr just in case.

My son is best behaved with both parents in the room. He is so happy. You sound like you’re keen onto his feelings. I’d try giving him special attention right now. Sorry y’all are going through this

Are you stressed about his father’s arrest? He could be feeding off your stress and that could cause him to be clingy.
If you’re worried about him and want him to feel better then you’re a good mom.
