How does insurance work with pregnancy etc?

With the deductible & out of pocket maximum & child birth...my deductible is $3100, out of pocket maximum is $5k. When I deliver the baby via csection will she be under my insurance? Or will I get billed per her own out of pocket deductible? UGH. I am driving myself crazy.
How tf do people afford more than one kid on this scam called insurance?

I called my insurance and had them detail everything out for me. Pretty much, I’d rather go give birth in the woods with no medical intervention. But can’t. Talk to them. And ask to define and help you understand your true cost!

I’m a 2,000 deductible 7,100 out of pocket max... I have to pay my OBGYN up front (divided out into 5 payments), Their fee is 4,750, so I’m having to pay them 2,550.  This is just their fee! This is not including the hospital fee, which I will be billed at the end, at 20% until the out of pocket is met.  So let’s just say the hospital bill is 15,000, I will owe them 3,000.  So I’m imagining I will be paying at least 6k for this baby.  I also have the best insurance my Husbands company offered (which is awful because he works for a huge company).  Insurance in the USA is a joke.  This Baby will be cute and worth it. 🥰

Lots of pregnancy and newborn costs are covered as wellness treatments and are covered at 100% but every plan is different.

Your insurance will be billed. You have to meet your deductible before your insurance covers you at an 80% if you have an 80/20 then you’ll pay the 20% and in order for your insurance to cover you at 100% then you have to meet your OOP. It all depends on the facility that’s treating you if you’re going to be billed at the end of your pregnancy or you pay a portion each visit you go to. For example with me I’m set up on a payment plan each month I pay a portion that way by the time I give birth I won’t receive a bill. It all depends on the insurance you have and also everything should have been explained at your first OB appointment how what your insurance covers and what you would be responsible for. It also depends on how your plan is set up. Some plans have family deductibles and family max out of pockets (MOOPs) while others have individual deductibles you have to meet for each person and individual MOOPs while others have a mix of some sort

I think the actual delivery will be under you because it's surgery YOU have, but things like the hearing test, vit k shot, etc will be billed under her. Some insurances have specific pregnancy coverage, also.
