Thoughts on bettering relationships with sex?

My boyfriend and I have an extremely healthy relationship (with & without sex) but I honestly believe sex is such an important factor. I'm not saying base your entire relationship on sex, because that's a little too much.

Him and I have insanely high sex drives and I've noticed the more we both have sex, the happier & healthier our relationship is.

So what are your opinions on "sex makes a relationship better"? I personally think sex is very important if both are consenting, that is.
