MIL Advice
I was out with my MIL yesterday. I was telling her how when my kids are old enough, I would like to be a day nanny so my kids can make friends and I can meet new moms.
My MIL says, that’s a great idea and I can come with!
I’m not sure what she meant by ‘come with’ but if she means that she wants to be with me everyday while I’m working as a day nanny then I will have to say no. I have always been a person who needs space and my MIL is incredibly overbearing and critical. I love spending time with her in small doses but if I see her everyday, I am going to lose my mind. I want time with my children and to be my own kind of parent, to raise my kids my way and if my MIL is with me I feel like I won’t be able to do that without hearing her opinions. And also... being a day nanny is a job and it’s a huge opportunity for me and my kids to meet new people.
I haven’t said anything to her yet because it’s too early to say what this future will look like but I want to know, how would you guys handle this situation and what would you say to your MIL if you feel the way I feel.
