Water for 6 week old?

So I come back to my daughter's grandma's house and I see she has water in a bottle. I thought not to give newborns water....

Definitely definitely not safe. I’d ask how much they gave her. And then if more than a couple ounces, I’d call the doc right away. 
And then I’d also question if it’s safe for them to watch your kid again... meaning: they may use other very old (and since proven unsafe) parenting techniques with your baby.

Definitely not okay to give a newborn water. You’re not supposed to introduce water u til at least 6 months old, and even then it’s not a necessity.

I would personally never give a baby that young water. I was scared to till my kid was six months tbh. But I’m not sure when you technically can. All babies that young need are formula or breast milk. That’s it. Kindly educate her. I accidentally gave my 2 month old Gatorade for real. Like six ounces. Called poison control and suggestion of nurse line and everything. He was fine lol so your baby is too. Just make sure she doesn’t do it regularly.

A baby that young can easily get water poisoning and definitely should not be given water.  I wouldn’t trust my baby with anyone that thinks that’s safe.

No! That’s something they did years and years ago. My MIL is still trying to do that. Don’t do it! Not safe.

Yeah I told her that it's not good to give to baby before solids. She goes oh okay no more water for you little one.

My kids doctor always said no before 6 months even then limit the amount.

The pediatrician gave us the okay at 4 weeks for small amounts for dry skin/pooping issues.

A few weeks ago I read a post either on here, or another message board, where a mother's baby got water poisoning and she was something like three months old. And this mother had only ever given her very small amounts of water too. She was posting it as a warning that you really can't be giving any amounts of water
