Anyone else birthing solo?

Question

After months of preparing to have this baby with my biggest supporter I’m now in fear that I’ll be giving birth without anyone to hold my hand or even be there by phone the way I need them to be. Has anyone done a birth solo? Is anyone else going through the same? I feel so unprepared now suddenly.

I haven’t but my boss did. Her husband passed 3 months before her daughter was born and she very openly talks about what a wonderful experience it was. She had family waiting but felt she just needed to do it herself.

I know it's not the same as what you're talking about, but With my first I ended up laboring in the shower with my husband checking in on me occasionally, but mostly I just wanted space. And when it was time to push he had a panic attack and the nurses made him leave the room. By the time he came back, our son was already born. Honestly I was so focused on myself I barely noticed or cared. The nurses are great and are much better support than my husband was!

I am! I am single and have been throughout my entire pregnancy. My mom will be in the delivery room with me, but not my baby’s father.

Have you thought about getting a doula? They can be huge supportive people. I’m a birth doula and attended a birth we’re it was just myself and her and loved being there for that special moment with her. We both cried when we heard baby cry.
