When should I be concerned

Question

My 10 month old is sick for the first time today. 
When should I be concerned and take him in?
The highest his temp has reached was 103.4, gave Motrin and it dropped to 101.5.
He constantly feels like he is burning up and been in my lap pretty much all day.

I’d take him in but also alternate between Ibuprofen and Tylenol to lower his temp and help get him comfortable. Keep pushing fluids to avoid risk of dehydration. Good luck, mama!

I don’t know about you but I was told if my son gets a high fever which is passed 101 before he’s one then I should take him to the emergency room. You should do the same.

Fevers are emergencies in babies under 3 months old, because they’re not developed enough to manage it. 
You have a controllable temperature, in an older baby, that’s managed well with Tylenol and ibuprofen. Having a 103 fever drop to 101 is well managed, some Tylenol isn’t going to drop them down all the way to 98.6 from 103. But the fever is responding to the medicine. If the fever isn’t responding, or continued to climb, it could be signs of a bigger illness that the doctors can and need to treat. 
You can rotate them every 3 hours so baby’s never not on a medicine. As long as your baby is drinking and wetting diapers, I would wait it out. 
Drop everything and go to the emergency room in a 10 month old, would be an uncontrollable and high temperature. I’ve heard one medical source say as high as 107 is the ER time, kids are resilient. Taking a sick baby to the emergency is going to expose them to a lot of other illnesses, like the actual flu and others. This wouldn’t be a top priority in triage, and you could be there for hours. 
Maybe call your pediatrician and get some over the phone advice, since you’re clearly concerned. If they want you to come in for an appointment do that. But this is not an emergency room issue. 
We just went through 5 days of high fever with my 18 month old. It sucked and it freaked me out, but she recovered like nothing was wrong. It was just some virus going around.
