Set up for disappointment?

I got a faint positive last night around 8 o clockish. This morning I held my pee in all night, only to take a test and find it looking more negative(barley even there)

Have I had a false positive or has it been an indent all this time?

Has this happened to anyone, where they got positive and then went to the doctors and they said they weren’t pregnant? I haven’t told my husband cause I wanted to tell him at Christmas. My periods are irregular so I couldn’t even tell you my Ovulation days
