Any mom here is also a college student? Is college worthy?

How do you manage it all? 
Why are you in - or back to college?

I’m finishing up my dual master programs. I earned my BSN before I was married at age 20. Then I applied for graduate school and I now have my M.A. in Psychology. Now I’m finishing up my dual masters -I’ll have 2 more master degrees in history and English spring 2020. 
I’m married with a 3 year old and I work full time in the ER as a nurse and I use my M.A. in psychology to be a parent educator and some other things. The masters in history and English is just for self growth and personal reasons Mx I love being a student. 
College is worth it! Absolutely!

I'm planning on going back to get my MBA. My daughter is 4 months so when she gets a little older and more independent it'll be more manageable. I'm going to take my time tho and do 1 class at a time and take the full 6 years available or realize I can do more as she gets older and speed up the timeline. 
I think college is great but it really depends on your current job and what you want to achieve vs if you're having to give up time with your children.

YES, YES, YES!! College is so worth it. I had my daughter when I was 16 and graduated with my bachelor just this year when I was 22. I finished my last year pregnant with my second, working full time as a manager, and doing an internship for my program. I loved school and I loved learning and I loved the challenge; so much so that I help my husband with his school work while he’s finishing his degree! It gives me a sense of accomplishment and something to look forward to when my baby is in school. It also gives me a sense of security knowing if something (god forbid) happens to my husband I have something under my belt that will hopefully provide me with a job that can take care of me and my kids.

Finishing my Masters in School Counseling! I went back when my daughter was 4 months (she’s 26 months now) and it has been SO hard. I’m totally exhausted and thankful for the end. However, it is totally worth it. I’m increasing my yearly pay from 16k to around 40k....SO worth it. And I’m getting to do exactly what I want to do! Challenging for sure but super proud of being almost done!

I enrolled in community college last year after my daughter turned 2. I was a full time student and all my classes were online or at night so I could just leave my daughter at home with her dad. Once a week I would take her to her grandparents for the day so I could do all my homework. I was going for an AA in Early Childhood Education. I got through my first semester with flying colors but ended up dropping out with a few weeks left in my second semester because I had a sudden death in the family I had to deal with all the arrangements and whatnot for and now pregnant again so I don’t plan on re-enrolling until baby #2 is in preschool.

not a mom but i will say that college isn't always worth it. it depends on the career you want. generally, most white collar jobs require at least a bachelor's degree for promotions or even just entry level jobs. 
ex. my grandfather began an apprenticeship for engineering and never had above a 6th grade education (he fled during the communist revolution and never went back to school). he ended up being pretty successful. my dad ended up going into academia for engineering and did research as well, and owns his own highly successful businesses. 
my hs econ teacher was working as a security guard as a while and made decent pay, but realised if he went to school he'd make much more money and would make up for both lost income and loans within a few years. 
my degree isn't necessary at all tbh. anyone can run a business without formal education in business. same with law. i can pass the bar without needing formal education, but in that situation, it'll be very hard to find clients/employers without credentials. it's worth it to me bc i need an undergraduate education to get into a good graduate program, and a good graduate program to be hired by a top firm.

My college journey has been a long one haha. Started back right out of highschool, but struggled greatly with my mental health and left a little over a year. Got married too young, had a kid, got divorced, and started back on my college journey. It went great until I started working over 40 hours a week. That's when my grades started skipping some (went from A's to C's) but once I reduced my hours things were fine again. I feel it will be worth it because it's something I want to do. My husband is a nuclear engineer and is capable of supporting us on his own, but I want a real career and always have. So I'm doing it for me. And when you do something for you, it's always worth it.
