Who watched your 1st born when you went into labor with your 2nd?

My husband and I live 1000 miles away from our parents. Only have a brother who lives within an hour of us. When our twins are born he will have a 2 month old and have his hands full. I'm hoping we will have a scheduled c-section so my mom can plan and fly down. I know that's not totally likely especially with twins!

My family made it the hospital just in time to take our first out of the room before the baby was born. He came to the hospital with us, he was in the room watching me labor, he was totally fine. The nurses were very good at distracting him during my contractions and being upbeat and happy with him so he didn’t get upset. They would’ve 100% taken him out of the room and watched him if my family didn’t make it. It wasn’t our plan (my sister was supposed to spend that whole week with us but crap happened), but I quite like the picture of my first standing in the labor room in his PJs calmly watching me suffer. He was 2.5 at the time.

My first was in the room when I had my second, shes so good (she was 1) & my mom & mil was in the room with me & my husband so it wasn’t a challenge. I was happy she could be apart of it!  But as soon as I had my second my mil took my first home so I can rest 😉 I’m thankful they live close so if I was you I’d def plan to have your mom fly down so you can have help!

My mom did. But we only were at the hospital about 7 hours before coming home with baby so it wasn’t much of an adjustment

My mom! And it was the right move because she was at my first labor and honestly just made everything worse with her panic.

I had a scheduled induction so my mom could fly down. That does get trickier with twins, but I’d say it’s definitely worth talking and it over with your OB.

My brother in law. My son loves him! He was 18 months old and in daycare during the day. My husband did pick ups and drop offs and my brother in law did bedtime and stayed the night. This was only for the day I had the baby and the next day. I didn’t feel like my husband needed to stay in the hospital after that so he left.

We are having a friend come and watch him. Our closest relatives are about 8 hours away so it’s really not an option.
