Need advice from dads

Kim

Our son was born 16 weeks ago and while he wasn’t planned, he was welcomed into our lives. I had a hard time connecting to our son at first, but after he started smiling and playing more, I was able to connect with him more. My husband is still having a hard time connecting, partly because he works some days and evenings and also because he will take care of him when I’m unable to for a bit and our son won’t always be in the best mood. He doesn’t have as much patience as I do with him, though he grew up taking care of younger siblings so he knows babies. Our son is generally a good baby, doesn’t cry much and is easily entertained, though he is beginning to teeth. I don’t want to push him into a relationship, but I don’t want our son to feel unloved by him. I’ve tried getting him to read to him, take him when he’s happy, but my husband is usually trying to do computer work when he’s home or is cooking and can’t have our son with him. Is there any suggestions the dad’s in this group have for helping my husband connect more with our son?
