Whatever you chose I definitely suggest being in the hospital in case anything goes wrong tou want trained medical professionals right there.

I had a water birth in a hospital. If at any time I wanted medication I could just step out of the bath and get whatever I needed. It was so fast though, about 2 minutes after I got into the birthing pool my body started pushing my baby out. So there wasn’t time! I hadn’t even planned a water birth I just got in there to take the edge off the pain.

I got an epidural and one of the nurses put some sort of oil or something down there on me, as I was crowning to prevent tearing and I didn’t tear at all . I had what the doctor described as a “knee scrape” down there, but no tearing . My daughter developed chorio because I had group b strep so I was given pitocin to speed things up. I don’t regret the epidural either . I didn’t feel a thing .

I had a medicated birth and loved it.. will definitely be doing that next time as well! Whatever you choose, as long as your babe gets here, you made the right choice! 💕

We had an unmedicated home birth and babe was accidentally born in the bathtub 😂 honestly, after the back labor was over it wasn’t bad at all. I had a calming environment, supportive birth team, and lots of natural pain relief options available. It was something I’d wanted for a long time though and so I was committed to going through with it. It was tough but doable. However, I have nothing against hospital births with meds...you just have to decide if you want to have meds available when you want them and what kind of environment is most soothing to you. The water was really calming and the heat helped with the pain! There’s my two cents! :)

I did a homebirth with my first and had two very small tears. Definitely doing a homebirth with future children, I loved my midwives and the entire experience. I had the option of doing a water birth at home, but I am not totally comfortable in water

I had the epidural for my first (i was young and uneducated) and my second i tried water but couldnt stay in it, ended ho doing all natural, no meds, in a hospital. Best experience ever. My body healed so much faster than the first time.

And medication does in no way prevent tears!

I’ll always choose medicated at the hospital. With my first, I had an epidural and once I got to 10 (which was 4 hrs after epidural), and I was pushing, the nurses or doctor were massaging me and I didn’t tear. Just one or 2 small superficial tears and I didn’t require any stitches.
