Honestly I just politely bow my head and wait for them to finish. But no one in my family says very long prayers anyways.

My husband's grandfather is an Anglican minister. At Sunday dinner every week he says grace, and it goes on forever. A few weeks ago I was holding my nephew and he tooted, loudly, multiple times and everyone pretended not to notice. Meanwhile I was just shaking with silent laughter and now I can't sit through grace with a straight face anymore 😂

My family prays before every meal... My husband and I just sit there and stare at each other smiling. We don't bow our heads or anything.

I just bow my head and stay quiet the entire time. I don't say amen or anything afterwards. My family does this thing where my grandma will lead prayer and open it up to anyone who wants to add to it.... So what was a 3 minute prayer turns into a 10-15 minute one and all I want is some damn Turkey. Haha. Sighs.

Thankfully my family is not that way. Theyre Catholic but they do not pray before they eat. On the other hand, my husband's family does pray before they eat when a certain aunt comes around. My husband and I never participate. I'm glad we're on the same page 😊

Thankfully there's only one close family member who wants to lead prayers. My husband's grandmother. If we are at her house (almost always the case) for a holiday meal, I don't say anything. It's her house, and she did most of the cooking! But I don't bow my head or say amen or anything, I stay stay quiet until she's done. I feel like that's a good compromise. My rule is simply "who's home am I in?" and go from there.
