What if I need to ship something breakable?

Whenever I take something to the post office to ship, they always ask if the package contains a list of things, one of which is breakables. I have never shipped anything breakable before, so what happens when I say yes?
It's a coffee mug and I have it packed really well. Multiple layers of bubble wrap and the bigger, air filled bag things to fill up any extra space, so it's not moving around. 
I just don't want to run into any issues trying to ship this.

Just say yes. I’m sure it’s fine. And if they aren’t fine, go to a different place to mail it and say no.

Nothing happens, really. There is no extra charge or anything like that. They'll probably put a sticker on it to make it as fragile so it isn't thrown around like a football during processing and delivery.

I have mailed MULTIPLE things and some of which are breakable. I make sure to wrap it very good and then when I get to the post office I usually let them know, "hey I wrapped it really well but I have glass in here" and they're just like "ok". I think they want to know that way they make sure to be extra careful with it and maybe put a breakable label on it
