I don't want my boyfriend to meet my family...

Title is self explanitory, I come from an abusive background but am on speaking terms with my parents (barely). My mom is coming to visit me for Christmas and thankfully my boyfriend is abroad and won't be meeting her this time.

I'm quite certain that my boyfriend is somebody I want to spend my life with, but I never, ever want him to meet my parents as I'm trying to remove them from my life.

Is this weird? Should I just suck it up and let him meet them? He doesn't feel strongly either way and understands the abuse and why I don't like my parents. I don't even want my mom to come for Christmas she just decided to do it and I've been depressed and anxious leading up to her arrival.
