Do cancer lumps grow quickly over night?

Question

Yesterday I felt a painful lump the size of a pea under my armpit. This morning, it’s gotta a lot bigger and hurts. My mom thinks it’s an ingrown hair and I’ve already set up a doctors appointment. But lately that same arm has been randomly feeling really tight like I have a rubber band wrapped around it and I’m worried it’s related. Someone please tell me if you’ve ever had these symptoms. I’m going to the doctor but I have to wait for my appointment and I’m really worried

Update: I know this is old now but now I have another lump on the OTHER ARMPIT 😭😭😭😭 so now I have two! My doctor said it’s due to an infection but that was when I only had one on my left arm. Is it more serious now since I have two or is this normal?

Probably just a swollen lymph node...they are pretty common and can be caused by any allergy or even a common cold.lt should disappear within a week.

Hey, it’s a good thing you’re getting it checked, but it could also be your glands getting enlarged? I get that when I’m run down or ill, I get it in my throat but my friend get it in her armpits. So don’t panic yet x

Do you feel comfortable sharing a picture? Regardless it’s always better safe than sorry to get it checked out. I’d recommend a dr with what you’re explaining because I’ve never had an ingrown hair feel like it’s cutting off my circulation or anything like that

Get checked to be safe but could just be a lymph node swelling, usually happens with viruses/colds I’ve had this happen to me before. Could also be an infected follicle or deodorant buildup or an ingrown hair if it’s painful, is it like in the skin or under it? If it seems like it could be something surface related you could try squeezing it and see what happens.

It sounds like your lymph node is enlarged. That can happen with a cold or infection. It's good you're going to get checked out but I wouldn't jump to cancer. I get enlarged lymph nodes in my armpits when I'm sick or battling some type of infection as well.
