Schedule?

My little one is 6 weeks 4 days, a group I’m in on Facebook is talking about schedules for their kids. I pretty much just go with the flow with daughter. If she wants to sleep I let her, if she wants to chill and play we do so. I let her call the shots pretty much. Should I have her on a schedule though? From about 12-3 she’ll be up just fussing and fighting sleep. Then she’ll sleep from about 3:30 3:45 to about 6, 6:30. Then she’ll be up til about 9, 10 sometimes 11 and then back to sleep usually

With my first baby I don’t feel like we got into an actual schedule until he was closer to 4 months old. We somewhat have a routine down just because we have to keep our 2 year old on track but for the most part we let our month old daughter eat and sleep when she wants. She is a good nighttime sleeper so that of course helps. Honestly the first few months are tough so I wouldn’t worry too much about not having a set schedule just yet.

Babies do great with routine and schedules but depends on you too.  I have friends that don’t do schedules and it works for them and their kids.  I’m a schedule person so I’d prefer to know when they want to sleep, eat etc so I can plan my day too.  If you want the baby to nap at the same time everyday then yes, get on a schedule.  You can still let her call the shots when those are though.  Just start paying attention to the time and you’ll probably notice a pattern.  Mine is 5w and hoping she settles into a pattern soon.  I’m starting to see one but it’s not 100% yet.  Usually closer to 3m they have more regular wake and asleep times.  And all those are different.  My first 2 were solid 30 min nappers 5-6x a day by 3m but hoping this one does longer naps 2-3x like other babies.  At least if you know when they want to sleep you can plan to get other things done baby free 😊
