MIL hasn’t even acknowledged pregnancy

We told my MIL about our pregnancy a week ago and got absolutely no response. No excitement, she opened the gift, looked at it, and put it down before grabbing another gift. No congratulation, she didn’t ask the due date, didn’t ask how I was feeling (even though she knows this would be a high risk pregnancy for me, due to previous pregnancy issues).

Personally, I think it stems back from our last baby. I refused to allow her in the delivery room and she stopped talking to us for a few weeks. I also asked her to wash her hands before picking up my three week old, to which she told me she didn’t need to and it wasn’t my concern. Also, my husband and sister got into a pretty large fight, where she took the sisters side (sisters daughter is not vaccinated, had a fever and small bumps, so my husband said his niece she was not allowed to visit. It ended up being chicken pox so we’re glad, but it still caused a huge falling out). His mom said we shouldn’t have “punished” the niece for not being vaccinated, which we weren’t, we were just protecting our child. No newborn needs to be exposed to chicken pox.

I’m really hurt that she didn’t even acknowledge this pregnancy and just needed to vent. I know my kids don’t notice yet, but it’s hard to see them treated so different. MIL spent $400 on Christmas gifts for SIL’s daughter and bought my daughter a $20 toy. It’s probably the pregnancy emotions, but it just hurts. It always feels like it’s finally time to cut her out, but I won’t suggest it, that’s completely my husbands choice.
