Thoughts on phentermine?

Long story short my doc wants to put me on phentermine. I’m not much of a pill person but apparently it helps to suppress appetite. 
I’m only 21 and weight 240lb I’m hesitant if I should Atleast try it or just avoid it.

I have come to learn that a lot of doctors dont actually know that much about safe ways to lose weight. My suggestion is to work with a dietitian (different than a nutritionist) to lose the weight.

I’ve used it before and it works like a BOSS.  Just keep your eye on your heart rate and blood pressure (Apple Watch or something like that) it’s the first ‘phen’ in PhenPhen that was banned bc of heart complications.   It works, no doubt.    And if you can couple it with HCG injections, you can literally loose 10 lbs a week for months at a time on a VLCD.   (Not hard, bc it kills the appetite).    Just keep your eye on that heart rate.    If your resting HR goes up more than 10-15 BPM over your norm, might want to get a lower dose le back off a bit     FWIW.

I have taken it in the past and it helps, but you really have to change your diet as well or you will gain it all back. If you decide to take it, I recommend you only take it for a few months because it can cause heart problems with long term use. Most doctors won’t keep prescribing it if you don’t lose weight. It helps, as long as you are also practicing healthy eating habits and addressing your issues mentally. It’s helped me lose weight twice in my life, and it really does work. You will have to go in for appointments with your doctor regularly, though, as they will have to take your blood pressure and heart rate.

If you’ve ever taken adderall it gives the same symptoms as adderall. If not then it makes you really thirsty. You don’t want to eat and kinda puts you in a fog. I’m not a fan only because I didn’t actually lose any weight as soon as I d lose 5lbs I’d gain it back because the medicine did t work for me every day. 1 day it work next day it wouldn’t, my body built a tolerance for it but I find that I build a tolerance for everything so this is just my experience. It’s different for everyone.

I was on it for years on and off. You will lose weight byt therenis a rebound effect when you stop if you don't change your eating habits. It is not good for your heart. When I was on it all I wanted to do was smoke cigarettes, drink coffee, drive around and clean. It is an addictive substance. Once your body tolerates the max dose it can become a big problem.
