Nursing a baby with an ear infection and congestion

My baby boy has been congestion for while but it progressed over the last few days. Which is when I believe he developed an ear infection. We started antibiotics today but we’re having a miserable time nursing. We’ve tried the steaming bathroom but that doesn’t always work and we’re just wet with steam and baby still hasn’t nursed. When will this get better? Oh, also should in five baby a probiotic to prevent thrush? He was given amoxicillin for 10 days.
