Coyotes are very shy and comparatively small
small. I am surprised more have not picked them. I love their cute noises.

I literally came in contact with a bear this fall. I was hiking alone and we both wandered up the same trail toward each other. My exact words were "hey bear! We should uhhhh.. turn around now." And both the bear and I turned and went our separate ways. 
I almost shit my pants after I realized wtf happened a few feet down the trail.

People who said cougars CLEARLY did not grow up around cougars or have much knowledge about them

Bear. They can be pretty chill. Coyotes and wolves can be too, but you put pack as opposed to singular. NEVER want to encounter a cougar.

Coyotes are cowards.     Just yell and they scamper.     They’re around here all the time.
