Contractions?

I’m 37 weeks 2 days I have been having period like cramps for the past few hours they are slowly getting more painful and they last and average of about a minute and a half coming every about 4-5 minutes. My question is do these sound like actually contractions because I can still function through them they are probably about a 5 out of 10 on the pain scale.

They could be. Try chugging a couple glasses of water. A lot of times contractions are caused from dehydration. If after you drink they still continue head to L&D to be monitored

It does sound like the start of them. Before going anywhere id monitor linger at home and see if they continue or if they get more painful. 
I am always told the 5-1-1 rule, but that it varies from women to women. 5 minutes apart, one minute long contraction, and lasting for more than 1 hour. 
Mine were like that for 28 hours with my first and I just wasn’t dilating quickly And was sent home from the hospital twice between that 28 hours until his was born after 52 hours. And the birth it self went amazing.   
Have a warm bath and see if that helps with the crampy pains and try to rest.
