Induction on due date ??

Question

So my doctor has me scheduled for an induction on my due date. He hasn’t expressed any concern for me or the baby as to why he is pushing for a induction. I’m thinking about canceling the induction appointment if it is not medically necessary, I guess my question is has anyone’s else’s doctors pushed for an elective induction on their due date.

My ob suggested the same for me. He had also given me revised due dates.
The first due date I was given was November 30, then November 27, and finally November 23. I went past the 23rd and induction was being discussed. I didn't want it because I was still holding to November 30. My ob examined & massaged my cervix a few days before 11/30. It was just beginning to open so if nothing happened that weekend I'd be back to finalize induction on Monday.
My husband and I and a friend went shopping Thursday and Friday; Saturday the 30th, early labor started about 6am and my son was born at 9pm.
So maybe ask for cervical massage and get walking; it couldn't hurt!

Mine didn't 'push' for it but recommended I was induced at 40+3 due to a big looking baby on ultrasound. I regretted not waiting 40+11 to be honest since my baby was only 8lb 8 and they said they thought my baby was at least 9lb at my 39 week scan. I found the whole induction experience v stressful and wish I'd read up on it more before I went to the induction (it took 4 days, wasn't allowed to go home and all the while I was on a ward where everyones inductions were working and I had to listen to lots of women in labour). Mentally it drained me. Foley balloon insertion was extremely painful. Ended up labouring for 17 hours before having to have an emergency c section. I'd recommend you find out the reason, and honestly go with your gut if there is no solid reason for induction - I wish I had!
