What is the youngest age of baby sitter that you would allow to watch your children?

Is there any difference based on the baby sitter themselves? Would it make a difference if they had their babysitters course or CPR/first aid training? Would it depend at all on the age of your own children or the amount of children they were expected to watch?

I would say it absolutely depends on the age of your children. The younger your children are the older I would want the babysitter to be. I wouldn’t feel comfortable with someone in high school watching an infant but I would be comfortable with them watching a school age child. That’s just me though. It could also depend on if they are a family friend that your children are used to being around, etc.

For me personally it used be a lot younger, I used to be okay with 13+, but than I saw all the 13-17year olds in my life and realized most of them can’t handle a baby lol It definitely depends on the sitter themself and the age the kiddos though. Youngest I’d be comfortable with now is 16+ with a license for safety reasons, but I wouldn’t let a 16year old watch more than one of my kids at a time, at least not by themself.

I started babysitting at 12. By 14 i sat 3 kids monday to saturday 5-12. I used to have dinner with the family then sit with the oldest helping her with her homework whilst youngest 2 watch tv. Then we'd play hide n seek or other games involving them all. Saturdays wa treat day if all 3 had been good all week we'd have a sweetie treasure hunt which they all loved . Used to bath them all & in bed by 8; then i would sit & do my homework. Then dose til both parents got home. Did this for 2 years. Only thing i wouldnt do was give the youngest her growth hormone injection. Their mum sid that before she left.

I personally haven’t been around a lot of teenagers since high school so I wouldn’t be able to judge between them. But, I’m 24 and youngest person who has watched my child was 31. Always leave her wth certain family members

I’m picky about who will get to babysit my daughter. Never in a million years would I let a teenager watch her haha.

These days, 16+. I started babysitting at 12 but compared to today's kids I was waaaay more mature at 12 than kids are now at 14/15.
  No one bothers to get CPR certified and cant even tell you what theyd do if the baby was choking, cant change a diaper, dont know where to find poison control #, and cant get off their phones long enough to pay attention

Depends on the sitter. I started sitting at 12 but I had my babysitter certification and cpr. I loved kids and was pretty grown up for my age. I would have to meet them and ask them some questions first. Ive met some very irresponsible 17 year olds and very responsible 14 year olds.
